AccuQuilt System

AccuQuilt System

The AccuQuilt system transforms the way quilters cut fabric, replacing rotary cutting with a fast, accurate, and consistent die-cutting process that saves time and reduces fabric waste. By pressing fabric through a shaped die with the AccuQuilt cutter, you can cut multiple layers of precise shapes in a fraction of the time it takes to cut by hand.

Quilt Direct is the official UK stockist of the AccuQuilt system, offering a comprehensive range of GO! and Studio cutters, cutting mats, and an extensive selection of dies covering shapes, alphabets, and designer collections. Whether you are new to AccuQuilt or expanding an existing system, you will find everything you need here.

What is AccuQuilt?

AccuQuilt is a fabric cutting system for quilting, sewing and a wide range of creative projects. Each die contains precisely positioned, foam covered blades that cut fabric into accurate, repeatable shapes.

To cut, fabric sits on the die, gets covered with the matching cutting mat, then passes through the cutter together. How many layers you can cut in one pass depends on the die and the fabric.

The GO! die range runs from traditional patchwork shapes and appliqué designs to alphabets, designer collections and project based dies for things like bags, hats and other accessories.

Why quilters switch from rotary cutting

Rotary cutting is a real skill, and an experienced quilter can cut very accurately by hand. It just takes time, especially when a project needs dozens of identical pieces.

AccuQuilt speeds that up. The same die gives you the same shape every time, and depending on the die and fabric, you can cut several layers in one pass rather than one piece at a time. Many patchwork dies also include accurate ¼" seam allowances and dog eared corners where appropriate, so pieces line up and sew together more easily.

A rotary cutter still earns its place alongside AccuQuilt, mainly for prepping fabric before it goes on the die. AccuQuilt's benefit doesn't depend on your rotary cutting skill. It cuts the time spent measuring and repeating the same shape, leaving more of it for piecing, sewing and quilting.

The AccuQuilt range at Quilt Direct

We stock the full AccuQuilt GO! range, including manual and electric cutter options, alongside geometric, patchwork, appliqué, alphabet, designer and project based dies.

Project based dies take AccuQuilt well past quilting. Bow Tie and Bucket Hat dies, plus the Sallie Tomato bag designs, put the same system to work on bag making and accessories too.

The cutter supplies the pressure, the blades inside each die decide the shape, so once you own a GO! cutter, you can grow your die collection around whatever you're making next. Different cutters take different die sizes, so it's worth checking compatibility before you buy, our team can help you match cutter, die and mat correctly.

Common questions

Is AccuQuilt just for quilting?

No. Patchwork and quilting prep are where AccuQuilt is best known, but the GO! die range goes further, with project based dies like the Bow Tie, Bucket Hat and Sallie Tomato bag designs built for bag making and accessories.

What's the difference between the cutter and the dies?

The GO! cutter supplies the pressure. The dies contain the foam covered blades that actually cut the shape. Fabric sits on the die, gets covered with the matching cutting mat, then both pass through the cutter together.

Do I need a cutting mat?

Yes. The cutting mat sits over the fabric and die as they pass through the cutter, and it takes real wear every time you cut. Mats are consumable, budget for replacing them as you go.

What can you make with AccuQuilt?

Plenty beyond patchwork. The GO! die range covers geometric quilting shapes, appliqué designs, alphabets, designer collections, and project based dies for specific makes: Bow Ties, Bucket Hats and Sallie Tomato bags among them.
